While 2008 was largely taken up by the 5 exhibitions of the USA road trip with Alex Gross, I did participate in a handful of group exhibitions, detailed here.
Untitled (balancing act #2) was my second freestanding text piece and was made for Belfast's longest running artist-run exhibition space, Catalyst Arts. I was asked by Catalyst to make a work for the gallery as it moves into a rather uncertain future - the four story building the hosts the gallery as well as artist studios has been scheduled for demolition to make way for a new supermarket & car park. Progress can be a mixed bag...
The lightbox (text: everything is here for you) was made for a group exhibition as part of Glasgow International 2008. The curator brought together a wide range of Glasgow-based artists including Jim Lambie,Toby Paterson and myself, and asked
us to each make a functional artwork to make a bar/hub for the festival. My contributions was this DJ booth.
The last work, Don't you wish you were Charles Bukowski, is included as I made several of these card/strobe light structures for minor group exhibitions.
